A valley is a low place between mountains. Sometimes a valley can be very dry. Such as Death Valley in California. Systems of valleys extend through plains, hills, and mountains. Many valleys have fertile soil at the bottom. Fertile means that the soil is great for growing people's vegetables and fruits. Many valleys were formed by rivers, erosion, and even some were formed by glaciers.
